The Farmette

The Office for Sustainability has established the Farmette, our miniature farm space, in the Eco-Corridor to provide campus with fresh, local, organically grown food. The Farmette is about 1/10th of an acre and is located next to Abby's Garden and the UR Orchard & Food Forest.

In the Farmette, you can find produce such as squash, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, okra, peppers, potatoes, and more, depending on the season. This space is managed by the Office for Sustainability's natural areas steward, Joseph Day.

Partnership with UR Catering

The establishment of the farmette has provided a unique opportunity to partner with University of Richmond's catering team. Chefs collaborate with the natural areas steward to determine which vegetables will be planted for plated dinners. The Dining Services team will also host demonstration and tasting events across campus featuring the harvested produce from the Farmette.
