Orchard and Food Forest
In 2024, the Office for Sustainability received $25,000 from the Oak Foundation to help establish the Eco-Corridor Orchard and Food Forest. In the fall of 2024, goats came to clear out a large area in the Eco-Corridor in preparation for the orchard.
Now connected to Abby's Garden is a newly fenced area where fruit trees, shrubs, and perennials have been planted. The Orchard and Food Forest will not only enhance biodiversity and increase tree canopy coverage, but it will also provide opportunities for experiential education at UR.
