Greenhouse Gas Emissions

In signing the ACUPCC, the University commited to tracking and reporting its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The first emissions inventory was conducted in 2009 and has been subsequently refined. The University uses Clean Air, Cool Planet's Campus Carbon Calculator to measure emissions. The UR invetory is tracked and publically reported on the ACUPCC website.

Emissions are divided into three categories.

Scope 1: Includes all emissions created directly by the University. These emissions include the onsite steam plant and the University fleet.

Scope 2: Includes purchased Electricity.

Scope 3: Includes all other indirect emissions, such as communiting, study abroad travel, University related travel, solid waste, etc.
