Spider Exchange

Spider Exchange, formerly the University of Richmond Office Supply Exchange (UROSE), is open to faculty, staff, and students. The program has expanded to include items like water bottles, clothes, books, some small electronics, and various office supplies. With this popular exchange program, students, staff, and faculty can reduce waste while saving money. The inventory is always changing, so please remember to check Spider Exchange before purchasing new items.

Donate to or "shop" the Spider Exchange at the end of New Fraternity Row (near the Robins Center). All items are free and you do not have to donate to take items. Please do not leave items outside of the house at New Fraternity Row or bring them to the Sustainability Office.

Participants are kindly asked to follow these guidelines for donations:

  1. Clean all items before dropping off.
  2. Ensure that donations are not at the end of their useful life and are not broken.
  3. Contact Information Services for assistance with University-owned electronic waste.
  4. Contact Facilities for assistance with surplus furniture.
  5. At this time, Spider Exchange cannot accept UR branded items available at the Spider Shop (departmental and Athletics promotional items are okay), textbooks, appliances, and linens.

Please note: Rethink Waste is a department operated through University Facilities, not the Office for Sustainability. All questions about Spider Exchange and donations can be directed to David Donaldson, Rethink Waste Manager, at ddonalds@richmond.edu.
