The University of Richmond is committed to reducing its environmental footprint. As stewards of the campus environment, the University has taken steps to use energy and water efficiently and to reduce consumption of resources in our daily operations. Many coordinated actions across campus occur to accomplish our campus operations’ sustainability goals. In recent years, we have increased our rates of recycling, doubled the number of LEED-certified buildings, and innovated multiple alternative transportation options for getting to and from campus.
Following the signing of the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment in 2007, UR ramped up its efforts toward energy efficiency with a goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. Toward this aim, a solar array will be installed at the Weinstein Center for Recreation and Wellness in fall 2015.
