2016 Garden Information

Welcome 2016 Gardeners! Thank you for being a part of the UR Community Garden. We look forward to a great year of gardening.

Plot assignments are now available and the garden is open. A map of the plots is located at the entrance to the garden. Plots are also marked within the garden.

Important Reminders

  • Please remember to close the gate when you leave the garden. We ask that you be sure to not lock anyone inside. Deer could quickly destroy the garden.
  • Please return hoses to the hooks after you have finished watering. Please do not use any automatic sprinkler systems.
  • The compost located at the far end of the garden is available for use.
  • Please read the Garden Guidelines that were presented at orientation and are linked below for more information.

All plots must be cultivated by May 8th out of respect for the other gardeners.  Plots that appear abandoned will be subject to reassignment.

Gardening Resources

Organic gardening can be intimidating for beginners, but there are plenty of resources for new and experienced gardeners alike. Organic Gardening magazine has great information for gardeners including tips for beginners. If you are interested in heirloom seeds, visit Southern Exposure's website. If you are interested in home gardening but have limited space, growning micro-greens might be a great place to start.
